About me
Hello my name is Shona Harris Artist - Art Tutor
I've only recently learnt
about painting. Over the years I have dabbled in most crafts
at some time or another, I still do some, will get back
to some, and some I will never bother about again, but I
have tried and enjoyed them all.
I cannot say that I have
been as absorbed in any of these activities as I find I am
with painting, and I never really intended to ever paint, but
as things happen in life opportunities present themselves and
I took mine and ran with it.
Malcolm at the NZ
Artschools, talked me into going to Florida for an instructor's
course in the 'Wet on Wet' technique. I talked it
over with the family, who gave me the go ahead, so I
spent their inheritance's and packed by bags and went.
Thank you Malcolm for this amazing opportunity that has
opened up so much to me.
I have continued to
learn from some great artists,
attending their classes both here in NZ and Australia,
and have now been introduced to 'water colours' and this
is offerring me yet another challenge.
Now I am regularly tutoring
at the NZ Artschools, and at Newlands and Feilding Community Colleges
and have my own teaching studio "Art in the Barn" at
Gladstone, in the Wairarapa.
In
2007 my husband and I moved to our small farm in the
Wairarapa, so after feeding the chocks in the orchard and
enjoying a cuddle and chat with our small flock of Gotland
sheep and the alpacas we foster, along with all the other
mundane jobs that crop up daily, sometimes I get to settle down, lost
to the world and its worries for a couple
of hours with the brushes.
Thank you to my wonderful
family, and all our friends both in NZ and overseas
who always encourage and support us.
